Please consider joining us for this special time of prayer, followed by refreshments and fellowship afterwards. · "Parents’ Night Out!" - Friday evening, March 12 at 6:00-9:30. Bring your questions on communicating with teenagers, sibling rivalry, teaching responsibility to children, etc. Guest will be family counselor John Mahon (Moody and Trinity post graduate and doctorate work, former Navigator staff). Schedule changes - Varsity Girls will be playing school #31 instead of school #141 on Friday. Note also the time change. Come out and enjoy a good basketball game. DEADLINES - Don't miss the deadline this Friday, March 5 for the April 10th ACT plus Writing held at KCA. All Juniors should set aside 30 minutes and go to www.actstudent.org to set up their profile and register for the test. March 25 is the deadline for the May 1st SAT. Students should go to www.collegeboard.com to register. DONUTS for sale - On Tuesday, March 9 Homemade donuts will be for sale as a fund raising activity for the JR/SR trip. Plain donuts are 8 grvyen and iced are 10. Bring you appetite and money to support the juniors. · From the Library Staff - Our new library system is up and running! This will help significantly with the accuracy of circulation. One of the great features of our program is that it will automatically generate and send out overdue notices via email. It will also calculate overdue fees. After the 2-week check-out period is exceeded, there will be an additional 3-day grace period. After that, 50 kopeks per day per item will be charged. If you are unable to locate an overdue item and believe it to be lost, please notify us immediately. You will then be responsible for the replacement cost of that item. Fees can be paid to the office. Thank you for your help in keeping our library running smoothly. We are still welcoming DVD donations! J Thanks for helping to improve our KCA Library! · MK/TCK Re-entry Retreats – Missionary Resources Connection is currently accepting applications for their 8th annual MK/TCK Re-entry Retreats. These retreats were designed for Third Culture Kids or MKs who will be soon entering US universities to give them support designed to help them through the potentially stressful transition back to the United States. There are two options: the first is July 18-27, 2010, held on the campus of Columbia International University and the second is August 8-17, 2010, held at Bethel Christian Camp. Registration deadline for both retreats is May 1, 2010. Cost is $400.00 per student, with a $50.00 non-refundable deposit due with registration. More questions? Pre-ordered Meals (MTThF) - Zoya makes hot lunches for students & faculty on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. Prices are 25 gryven or 15 gryven for ½ portions per meal. Send in money for the next week’s lunches by Friday before noon. Pay at the office and please indicate which days and which portions you are requesting. Exact change is appreciated! Tuesdays Cheeseburgers are available for all students. Elementary students please pre-pay - 12 gryven each. MS/HS are served on a first come, first served basis and unlike other hot lunch meals these cheeseburgers are not a pre-order item and the money is given directly to Zoya. Condiments provided. · Recipes Needed!! - I am working with a ministry in Colorado who does hosting trips for Ukrainian orphans every summer. The Colorado group is putting together a “European” Cookbook to sell as a fundraiser for the trip and needs help gathering good recipes. I am working on this end to gather yummy Ukrainian and other European recipes to send to them to be included in the book. Please take some time and look through your favorite Ukrainian recipes or other European treats and send me an email with your top choices. Thank you! · Russian and Ukrainian Language ClassesThe SEND Language Program offers Russian and Ukrainian classes taught by professors with years of experience who are specifically trained to teach their language to foreigners. Not only are they good, they love their job and make learning a difficult language enjoyable! Classes meet on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays for 2-1/2 hours – from 9:00-11:30, 12:00-2:30 and 2:40-5:10. (A Ukrainian-style lunch is served from 11:30-12:00 for $5.) Fees for each 4-week period are $240 for full-time (4 times a week) in a class of 2 or more; $400 for full-time, one on one; half that for part-time (2 times a week); and half again for part-time (1 time a week). · Enterprising Students – In addition to the Snack Bar, Zach Stoddard, Joseph Kim and David Crane will be selling cream filled doughnuts and round doughnuts with cherry filling. Cream filled will cost 5 gryven and round doughnuts 3 gryven each. They will also be selling a variety of fresh fruits.They also hope to soon offer their services to faculty and high school students to take grocery/lunch orders during 4th period (11:06-11:53).
