For Your Information

Attention KCA Library Patrons:Next Wednesday, August 13, will be the final summer library session. The hours are 1:30-4:00 p.m. You may return library materials at any time, but this is your last opportunity to check out materials before the school year begins. Thank you!   KCA Library Staff 

Summer Hours- IF you are in Kiev, come by and see us!

KCA Office will be open on Wednesdays from 10:30am -2:30pm.  Please come by if you have questions, or if you need to pay 08-09 tuition deposits.

KCA Library will be open on Wednesdays from 1:30pm - 4pm.  Librarians will be available to help you select reading materials.

KCA Sports -  the Gym will be open for basketball on Wednesdays from 4pm - 6pm and on Saturdays from 9:30am - 11:30am.  Soccer will be on Wednesdays from 2pm - 4pm and on Saturdays after basketball.

Elementary Students

 Each Elementary Student Needs

r       20 #2 sharpened pencils with erasers

r       4 pink pearl erasers

r       3 large boxes Kleenex facial tissue (additional may be requested later in year)

r       Whiteboard dry erase markers (1 set of 4 colors)

r       1 pencil box/case

r       Water Bottle

r       Insulated lunch box or sack – clearly & permanently marked with name

r       School shoes (not slippers, sandals, or slip-ons)

r       2-3 thin, slanted, cursive (less than 40 pages) Ukrainian-style notebooks for Russian classes 

In Addition, Students in The Following Classes Need These Items: Kindergarten

r       1 box of 24 crayons

r       Primary lined paper (U.S. item)

 Grade 1

r       1 (4-ring) binder with plastic page sleeves (for history)

r       No Markers

r       No Rulers

 Grade 2

r       1 set markers for student coloring

r       1 (4-ring) binder with sheet protectors (for new students only)

r       8-10 (75 pages or more) notebooks with wide-ruled lines

  Grade 3

r       4 journals/notebooks – thick; lined pages, not graphs

r       2 plastic blinders with rings for holding papers (no clip binders)

r       2 highlighters

r       12” Ruler (inches and metric)

r       1 box colored pencils -10 piece set (no crayons)

r       2 red or blue pens

r       Sheet protectors for 4-ring binder

r       4 ring binder (for new students only)

r       Lined loose leaf notebook paper (which fits in student’s binder)

r       3 2-pocket folders (with middle section for holding lined paper) or 2 plastic pocket folders with middle section 

Grade 4

r       8-10 journals/notebooks (75 pages or more; lined, not graphs)

r       Ink pens: blue (4), red (1)

r       12” Ruler (inches and metric)

r       Binder – 1 ½” wide containing dividers and supply of lined paper

r       1 box colored pencils - 10 piece set

r       2 highlighters

r       4-ring binder (for new students only)

r       10 Sheet Protectors for papers

r       Lined loose leaf notebook paper (which fits in student’s binder)

r       3 2-pocket folders (with middle section for holding lined paper) or 2 plastic pocket folders with middle section  

Grade 5

·       Label all supplies with student’s name in permanent marker.

·       Send supplies in on the first day of school. All students will need to have these items for school beginning the first day. 

·       Please bring in the full quantity of pencils and Kleenex as they will be kept in the classroom and be available when needed. Note: Teachers and students all request that only Kleenex brand tissues be brought in, as the other available brands do not hold up well. 

·       Notebooks can be Ukrainian ‘zoshet’ or spiral (European or US), unless a size or style is specifically indicated.

Middle & High School Students 

Each Middle school/High school Student Needs: 

r       Pens, Pencils & Erasers

r       2 Red Pens

r       4 large boxes Kleenex facial tissue (additional may be requested later in year)

r       Binder or organizational system of choice (folders, binder, etc.)

r       200 sheets college-ruled lined loose leaf notebook paper (which fits in student’s binder)

r       10-20 thin (less than 40 pages), lined Ukrainian notebooks

r       5 thick (60+ pages), lined Ukrainian notebooks

r       Ruler (inches & centimeters)

r       Graph paper (sheets or notebook)

r       Water Bottle & lunch container (optional)

r       Athletic shoes & clothing appropriate for PE (as applicable)

r       6-8 book covers for textbooks

r       2-3 spiral 8 ½ x 11 lined (college ruled) notebooks

r       5-6 Textbook covers

r       Bible Middle School Only

r       Colored Pencils – 10 piece set

 In Addition, Students in The Following Classes Need These Items:

6th- 9th Grade

Coming this Fall!

Juniors will take PSAT's (Preliminary Scholastic Achievement Tests) here at KCA on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008. Any Sophomores who want to take it must contact Barb Leary at guidance@kca,org.ua

The cost of $15 can be paid at the time of the test.
